You Will learn  how to choose garlands, where to hang them and how to fix them. and protect New Year's decor from children and pets

We continue our series of atmospheric New Year's articles. This time we are choosing lighting for the apartment together with the experts from  Ohmythings .

1-About types of lighting

For an apartment, LED lighting is ideal - such bulbs are safe and consume less electricity than incandescent bulbs. There are two types of LED garlands: outdoor and indoor. In order not to get confused when buying, pay attention to the thickness of the wire: street lights are thicker because they have protection against low temperatures.

Thin and elegant rooms will fit perfectly into any interior. If you want the wire to be invisible on the wall, choose a garland with a transparent base or thin wire. This is ideal for small compositions and decorating a Christmas tree.

2-Where to place the garlands to make it beautiful and safe?

Where they will definitely not bother you: in window and door openings, in the upper part of cabinets and on walls. So you can visually highlight several zones and at the same time completely transform the room. Just do not use tape when fixing the garlands on the wall - there is a chance that you will later remove them along with the wallpaper.

In addition, the adhesive tape does not stick on the non-woven wallpaper, and the garland will quickly come off. Better to use small pins - they are almost invisible. There are also special transparent clips for fastening - they can be found in large hardware stores.

3-How to decorate the balcony and windows?

The open-type balcony can be decorated around the perimeter of the railing, and on the glassed-in balcony, beautiful garland curtains can be stretched on the skylights and under the ceiling to create the effect of a starry sky. Feel free to experiment with different types of garlands - for example, in the form of snowflakes or stars - this will add a festive atmosphere.

4-Can the lights be left on when no one is at home?

Yes, if you connect them to a special adapter, which will automatically turn off the supply when there is a power surge. And do not forget that pets love to bully when no one is at home, and you need to restrict their access to the garlands.

5-How to keep pets and small children away from garlands?

Hang them as high as possible - from the ceiling or on cabinets. Better to buy garlands that run on batteries - then you can not be afraid that someone will gnaw the wire. You can also hide the wire of the electric garland in a special flexible tube (corrugation) to protect it from the sharp teeth of pets and the hands of babies.
