How to equip a house beautifully and on a budget: a real example

This house in the town of Emery, Wisconsin, at first did not look as attractive as it does now, and was literally falling apart before our eyes. But when his future owners Helen and Josh got into the  dining room , they imagined in paints how their little children would make noise at a large table. And immediately we understood - we must take it.

Children, by the way, were not yet there. Now there are four of them, and so that this large family does not feel cramped in a not very spacious house, Helen focused on a  convenient storage system for  things and toys and thought out safe and aesthetic spaces for children's games.

White walls are the perfect backdrop for the compact space . In the selection of furniture and flooring, they were guided by soft brown shades: when there is nature and a lot of greenery outside the window, such a palette of the interior is what you need.

Helen's crockery collection delicately blended into the kitchen interior. Delicate pastel shades added a lyrical mood to the snow-white kitchen space. On an old blackboard, Helen writes down the recipes for the dishes she likes - she looks very soulful.

Climbing the blue-green steps (they hid under the carpet until Helen and Josh dismantled it), you find yourself in a corridor with a  mini-gallery of children's drawings. Nearby is the boys' room with a three-tier bed (Josh made it) and the daughter's room.

In order to unload the small space as much as possible, there are many shelves, drawers and containers in each room  . In the playroom, for example, Helen organized a rack of boxes, each with a sign labeled “dolls,” “cars,” “army,” and so on. An excellent life hack that teaches kids to order will be relevant in a big house.

Helen added bright accessories and textiles to keep the white interior from looking dull. By the way, the textiles in this house are unique, and all thanks to my grandmother, a real craftswoman. So, along with ready-made  blankets , curtains and covers, a lot of touching hand-made embroidery appeared in the interior.

Grandma's embroidery decorates not only the rooms, but also the veranda, where the family often gets together. In addition to simple and affordable interior solutions, a mini-playhouse with an attic, a "secret" room and a private terrace appeared in the garden. Children cannot be pulled out of here - and no wonder.
