On board, the qualitative and technological leap compared to its predecessor is enormous. In all aspects the instrument panel is digital, with 10.25 inches , while the one referring to the multimedia system comes in the form of 8.4 or 10.1 inches .

The latter operates with the Andorid-based Uconnect 5 software . And although it is part of the optional equipment, the Grand Cherokee can be equipped with a Head-Up Display (HUD) system. Overall, both the settings and the materials used go up several notches, and the boot capacity grows to 1,068 liters .

In the Spanish market, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is marketed with two gasoline options and another plug-in hybrid (PHEV) under the name 4xe . The latter is made up of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder block that, together with a pair of 400V 17 kWh electric motors, deliver 375 hp and 637 Nm .

The electric autonomy is 40 kilometers. The petrol streams are made up of a 3.6-liter V6 with 297 hp and 352 Nm , and a 5.7-liter V8 with 362 hp and 529 Nm . In either case, the transmission is an eight-speed automatic.

Structurally speaking, the Grand Cherokee is not a classic off-road vehicle, since its chassis is monocoque and the suspension is independent on all four wheels. Still, the Detroit firm promises good off-road capabilities thanks to a complete all-wheel drive system that is divided into: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II.

The last two are fitted with a reducer and the last one includes an electronic rear differential lock. In addition, there is a multimode system (Selec-Terrain) that adjusts the vehicle according to the driving mode.

Depending on the version, a pneumatic suspension (Quadra-Lift) can be equipped that regulates the stiffness of the shock absorbers electronically. With it, the ground clearance is 287 mm. For its part, the off-road dimensions correspond to an angle of attack of 30.1 degrees, ventral of 22.6 ° and exit of 23.6 °.

In case of looking for greater efficiency to face unpaved terrain there is an option –Group Off-Road– that includes specific 18-inch wheels wrapped in M + S tires and protective plates on the underbody that protect vital mechanical organs.
